Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Steven Edward Belanger

While in-route to an appt nearby Deputy Belanger Way, Walnut, CA, my young child and I noticed the oddity of a public street names after a deputy which promoted us to research and learn the tragedy of Deputy Belanger. Although we have our own misfortunes with a few unjust officers along our life journey, we honor officers who justly deserve our gift of time contributing towards their bravery, good intentions to keep us safe, the dedication, and the sacrifices they sowed towards such. We send loving remembrance blessings towards this deputy, his colleagues, and foremost his family…even this long later. The street named in honor of him, keeps his name and work alive and definitely inspires people in our ability to give as Deputy Belanger did, for others. Amen

I'm currently in Academy Class 433. We're constantly told that anything can happen but it's still sad when we're reminded why. Thank you for your service and rest assured class 433 is working harder than we ever have to make sure we learn and practice officer safety at all times.

I hope that everyone can find comfort in Revelation 21:4 where it says, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Until we see him again in Paradise, please accept my condolences.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Steven died as a result of being shot on December 10, 1994 .

To the Belanger family, fellow deputies , and all who call Steven beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace. I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned for you.

He ran his race. He kept the faith. He finished his race. His family was always by his side on that journey.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Steven gave to his community and the citizens of California and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on February 6th, 2018.

It is a war against true evil that you did not fear to fight in. Thanks is such a small word that can never repay you, your family, friends and department for your work and your loss. We can continue to remember and honor you, by supporting all of law enforcement and by living our lives in a good way. With great sadness and respect.

Dear Deputy Belanger,
I'm sorry for your horrible incident and wish it never happened to you. I know you were just doing your job and I know it wasn't personal. Now and days sir it hasnt gotten worse with people respecting law enforcement. No one respects law enforcement, but a story like this pushes me and motivates me more to become a deputy. I am currently a recruit for the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department. Your terrible incident motivates me to graduate becuase I know you were a great man and a great deputy and I must show that law enforcement is never afraid and well not ever back down to any threat. You didnt back down, nor will I. I must show the courageousness you had. You well never ever be forgotten sir. Take care sir, and continue patrolling the streets of heaven sir.

Deepest condolences to Family, Department and Friends. Visit the web site ImagineHeaven.net for a glimpse of the Glorious Reunions awaiting. All law enforcement men and women indeed qualify as "Foxhole Christians" with their duty dangers. As Ray Comfort at LivingWater.com says "Passing is the doormat they wipe their feet on before entering Heaven.” It is our belief they will hear from the Lord Himself. “Do not fear. for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom” (Luke 12:12).
