Reflections for Detective Heath McDonald Gumm
I lived in Heath's area, I had mental issues and Heath came with sergeant JAI to confront me. Heath was so awesome and ask me how the guitar playing was going and we chat about the band Disturbed jokingly. I am much better and time to time when I am playing the guitar and start to cry thinking of him and how I wish he could see me play now. So I just got a blue floral Ibanez Jem guitar and with great honor naming it "Heath" so he wont be forgotten and remembered as long as this guitar plays.

Somebody killed a policeman today
And a part of America died...
A piece of our country he swore to protect
Will be buried with him at his side.
The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too,
Just as if he had gone off to war;
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half-mast
To his name they will add a gold star.
The suspect that shot him will stand up in court
With counsel demanding his rights,
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids
And spend many long, lonely nights.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today...
Maybe in your town or mine,
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors
A cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks the beat on a dark city street,
And he stands at each new rookie's side;
He answered the call... of himself gave his all,
And a part of America died...

I hope that everyone can find comfort in Revelation 21:4 where it says, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Until we see him again in Paradise, please accept my condolences.

Know that your loved one will never be forgotten, nor will his sacrifice. Take comfort in knowing that in time, along with the pain that never goes away, you’ll find those spontaneous times when you think of something he said or did, and you will smile. You are never alone

There is never a right word or phrase to show the appreciation and respect that I have for all Law Enforcement Officers. I do challenge myself to be a good enough replacement to continue the tradition of walking the 'THIN BLUE LINE' as Deputy Sheriff Heath Mcdonald Gumm did while providing his selfless service to his community.

Deepest condolences to Family, Department and Friends. Visit the web site ImagineHeaven.net for a glimpse of the Glorious Reunions awaiting. All law enforcement men and women indeed qualify as "Foxhole Christians" with their duty dangers. As Ray Comfort at LivingWater.com says "Passing is the doormat they wipe their feet on before entering Heaven.” It is our belief they will hear from the Lord Himself. “Do not fear. for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom” (Luke 12:12).

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Heath was killed.
To the Gumm family, fellow officers, and all who call Heath beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace. I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned for you.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Deputy Gumm gave to his community and the citizens of Colorado for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on January 24th, 2018
