Reflections for Lieutenant Mark Lamonte "Mont" Mecham
Monte, you will always be missed. God Speed Lt.
You were a hell of a cop.

The sole person responsible for allowing me to have a career at the Green River Police Dept. My mentor, my boss, sometimes my partner and always my friend. I remember the day we all thought we had lost him and how it affected the whole team. I also remember his relentless struggle to work through those debilitating injuries. A man who truly defined the soul of GRPD. I will forever regret not going to see him more often after we were both retired. R.I.P. Mont. You will be forever in our hearts.

Five years since you've been gone. Hard to believe, Seems like only yesterday we were out and about playing the game in the early 80s. You were my rabbi, mentor, and one of my best friends from the time when I was clueless and shiny new rookie all the way through 40+ years on The Job. Without you, I doubt I'd have made it a year. Leslie (now a retired Deputy Sheriff) and I (retiring in about a minute from Fort Worth) think of you practically every day. I don't think I will ever not miss you. You were, without exaggeration, one of the best cops I've ever known, and it was an honor to have been your student and friend.

I hope everyone will find comfort in Acts 24:15 - "And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous." Until we see our loved ones again on an earthly Paradise, please accept my condolences.

R.I.P. Mont. I remember you when I worked with you at G.R.P.D. in the early 80's. You were my Lieutenant and a very fair and wonderful man to work under. God bless you in heaven and your family here on earth as well as all of the G.R.P.D. personnel current and past.
