Det. Doty you are sadly missed by all who wear the badge and you will meet the fallen who sacrificed it all, in Heaven. The kids you mentored through the Explorer Program are hurting, as well as, the rest of the Explorer Advisors who came to know you over the years. You will not be forgotten and I pray for your family who are grieving over this tragedy. My thoughts and prayers also go out to your brothers and sisters at the YCSO, all who have known you a lot longer than me and will continue the fight until there is peace in the streets. Det. Doty you are my HERO, find peace knowing that.

he is their stronghold in time of trouble.

In a time that is surrounded by great tragedy, it is dufficult many times as flesh, to give God all the glory. We want to ask, "Why was someone whom we loved so much, taken from us in this manner?" I'm reminded of a story about a young boy, born to a virgin, who grew up to be a carpenter and later be hung on a cross, as punishment for crimes that he didn't commit. His father, allowed this to occur, even though he could have saved him, to help people all across the world that he had never even met. Each time that we put on this badge and gun and go out, we do it for people across the world that we don't even know, and our fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, wives, and children, allow us to do it, even though most of them have the ability to pull us from harms way, just like God could have pulled his son Jesus from harms way, because they know, just like God did, that the multitudes of people saved, far outweigh the losses, that come from the sacrifice. I am truly saddened by the loss of Detective Doty, but humbled to the point of tears, by he and his families sacrifice, when I think of the amount of people both in SC and across the world, whose lives he made a difference in, both knowingly and unknowingly. It gives me the strength, to put the badge and gun back on and go back out the next day, and do it all over again. You see, just like many of those individuals that we encounter multiple times a day, multiple times a week, for the same thing, so does Jesus encounter us multiple times a day, multiple days a week for the same sins, and though it can be exhausting, for him, as it is us, he does not stop knocking on the doors of our hearts, trying to get us to open the door and let him in, so that he can help us with our problems. It is worth it to return to those people day after day, until they answer that proverbial door and let us in to their lives to help. To the Doty extended family, thank you for allowing Mike to go out with us everyday and make a difference. Always glorify the Lord in good times and bad, and keep Jesus at the center of it all!
