Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Lieutenant Marci Simms

Rest in peace Lt. Simms.

Lord Jesus, as we watch our nation’s brave law enforcement officers succumb to the wicked and evil in this world, it becomes difficult for us to pick up and move forward. Our communities are on the brink of exploding with tension. In light of the law enforcement officers who are no longer with us, I pray for endurance for our communities and law enforcement agencies. Carry us through this time of strife, that through our struggles, our bonds may grow even more unbreakable. In Your mighty and holy name, I pray. Amen.

“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” [Isaiah 6:8 ESV]

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” [Psalm 23:4 ESV]

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 3rd anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

I pray for solace and strength for everyone who misses and loves Marci. We will never forget the sacrifice made by each of the 9/11 heroes and their families.

Lt. Simms, you will never know the pain felt by your passing. The saddest part is, with all the heroes who have passed due to that action taken by those filthy animals on 9-11, we feel pain, sadness and anger and yet, so many have gone, the pain slowly becomes less painful. That in itself is what is so outrageous. We see another name or three or seven added to the list and we say, "Oh damn that's horrible" and yet, the numbness is there. The anger is a bit less. The hatred for those who did this, a little less intense.

When it hits just how our pain and anger has diminished, it causes the blood to boil again, not just at them, but at ourselves for letting their act of despicable hate fade as the years go by.

Those scum are roasting in Hell, I am confident of that. OUR damnation is the seeing the past constantly reoccur and thinking (at times), "Oh, another one."

Do not for one second think we don't care or we aren't angry and we don't mourn. But so much has been taken from us, emotionally and spiritually that we can't cry like we once did. We simply sigh, say a prayer and get back to trying for all that we can, to not let this happen again, no matter what level it may.

But never think we don't hurt and miss you, whether we ever met you or not.

Sister, God Bless and may you forever Rest in Peace.
