Another Sheriff's Deputy has been taken from us all too soon. He will be missed by all who knew him. There have been multiple times where a police officer dies in the line of duty and it is because of criminals who know when they will kill a police officer because the criminal knows that he or she will be caught by the police and will be taken into custody. This time a criminal has just done that by a killing a young sheriff's deputy who leaves behind a wife and three young children. It also has put the Sheriff's Department as well as the family into mourning as well as the county in the State of Washington. He will be missed by his entire department and his family.

A Prayer for Deputy Sheriff Daniel A. McCartney:

Lord God, I boldly and humbly come before Your throne in sincere faithful and fervent prayer as we remember in this moment our Brother-in-Blue, Deputy Sheriff Daniel A. McCartney, of the Pierce County, Washington Sheriff’s Department, who sacrificed his life in the Line-of-Duty. We recall with gratitude and respect all that he stood for in this life. Help us to live in the companionship of his spirit. May we be kind to the family, friends, and colleagues he loved; devoted to the county and state in which he served; and loyal to the causes which he championed in law enforcement. Thus, in our life, may he live on, to our great comfort, to the betterment of Your creation, and to the furthering of Your most Holy Will. Amen.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons [children] of God." [Matthew 5:9 ESV]

"Greater love has no one than this that someone lay down his life for his friends." [John 15:13 ESV]

“And he [Jesus] said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.” [Luke 23:43 ESV]

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” [Matthew 5:4 EVS]
