Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Zackari Spurlock Parrish, III
To the family and co-workers of Deputy Sheriff Zackari Parrish, I'd just like you to know that on June 30th, myself and members of the department I recently retired from, Grand Prairie Tx Pd, will be hiking up to the top of Guadalupe Peak with the Cops on Top Texas group. This event happens this time each year and it honors our Texas LE fallen from the previous year. Normally we only honor LODD'S from our own state but I just felt that I needed to include Zackari this year. After retiring from Grand Prairie, I came to work at Dallas Baptist University PD and heard of the fond recollections given of Zack during his time as a student there, by current members of the faculty and staff. He was also remembered as a God fearing man of faith and integrity and I will be proud to include him in our remembrance time. God bless

I attended Deputy Parrish's funeral. Deputy Parrish, by all accounts, was the type of man and officer that we all aspire to be. Rest in Peace, I often reflect on his legacy and pray for his wife and daughters. Thank you for your example of faith and the sacrifice you made to your community and your oath.

Zack, I was so privileged to have met you. My dads profession truly scares me sometimes, and meeting you, Coleman, and Lehman truly put me at ease. You all were professionals and I for the first time, since Detective Brite was shot, could trust that nothing bad would happen to him because I knew you had his 6 and he yours. I will forever remember your simple yet powerful words to me, as well as how you embraced my family and your jovial spirit. Rest easy Deputy. We have the watch from here.

This song for you...
(Singing) What does it look like in Heaven?
Is it peaceful? Is it free like they say?
Does the sun shine bright forever?
Has your fears and your pain gone away?
Here on Earth it feels like everything,
good is missing, since you left,
and here on Earth everything's different,
there's an emptiness.
I hope you're dancing in the sky,
And I hope you're singing, in the Angels choir,
I hope the Angels know what they have,
I bet it's so nice, up in Heaven since you arrived.
Now tell me what do you do up in Heaven?
Are you days filled with love and light?
Is there music? Is there art and invention?
Tell me are you happy? Are you more alive?
Coz here on Earth, it feels like everything,
good is missing, since you left,
and here on Earth everything's different,
there's an emptiness.
I hope you're dancing in the sky,
and I hope you're singing, in the Angels choir,
I hope the Angels know what they have,
I bet it's so nice, up in Heaven since you arrived,
since you arrived.

On Sept 3rd we called 911 because I found my daughter unresponsive for a opioid over dose. Approximately 9:15 am. Two or 3 officers responded. I have always wondered if one of them was Deputy Parrish. One line Deputy spent time to comfort the younger children and offered to pray with them. I've never encountered a Deputy to do that. All I know was he liked superheroes. If it was Deputy Parrish, I thank him. If not, I thank the Deputy it was from the bottom of my heart. May Deputy Parrish rest in peace, he was a wonderful man. My

My heart aches for your family, blood and blue, and friends. Thank you for your service and dedication in protecting your community. It breaks my heart to know the pain of your family and especially right after the holidays. I hope and pray for comfort to all. COPS is a great organization for family and friends after such an incident and helped my family greatly. Love to you all!

May the choir of Angels receive thee; and mayest thou have eternal rest with Lazarus who was once a begger. Eternal rest grant unto him oh Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him.
