Reflections for Patrolman Hobert L. Brown

He was a friend of my dad, Ellijay Officer Ralph C. Byers who had gone upstairs for a pack of cigarettes when that 56 Chevy passed through Ellijay. The killer was caught in Blairsville . My buddy Don Ledford and I had hitched to Blairsville for school and looked over that black 56 Chevy 2-dr. Officer Brown’s blood was still on the side of the car. A pack of cigarettes probably saved my dad’s life.

My grandmother, my dad’s mom, knew Officer Brown personally, and I have heard about him and his wonderful personality and how he touched so many all my life. She never really mentions his passing, but she mentioned this Christmas after my dad made the decision to return to the jail and leave the family violence unit. Officer Brown, you may have never known how much you meant to everyone, but you will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 52nd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.

Patrolman Brown,
On today, the 47th anniversary of your murder, I would like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Blue Ridge. It took a little more time, but the scumbag that murdered you got the justice that he deserved.
