Rest easy my friend. You could always be counted on to do a good job. It was my pleasure to work along side you for many years. You always were the first to volunteer when the department needed someone. You were always willing to trade shifts to fill a hole in the schedule. Your good attitude and the example you set for the newer officers made everyone's job easier. When you handled an investigation it was a given that it would be handled to the best of your ability. You will be missed Bobby. Prayers for you and your family.

Sorry for your loss. It's hard to lose a brother. My condolences to the family too. It's going to be a rough way for them. The only I can give of comfort is my favorite scripture and it hang over my head ever night before I get to bed. It gives me great confront. Maybe it will the family. It is Jesus talking to us "Come to me all who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly of heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light?" Matt. 11: 29-30. God Bless Your Department and his Family.

Avenue of the Fallen
Standing at attention in their class “A “uniforms, badges gleaming and shoes like glass, are your brothers and sisters of Law Enforcement. All of whom have previously paid the ultimate price.
Today, like many others, they welcome you to this wonderful place.
As you march down the Avenue of the Fallen, all eyes focus on you as if to say “it’s OK, you’re with your eternal partners.”
A salute is followed and a tear can be seen on so many faces.
Welcome, you served well.
Now come join us in the ranks, another is coming home.

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.

There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

Police Constable Gareth Rees
Hertfordshire Constabulary
