Reflections for Police Officer Robert J. Johnson

Hey Bob, I realized I forgot to post on July 3rd. I'm sorry been really busy I still think about you, I know you're up there shaken your head at these new kids coming on. I also know you'd teach them the way you taught me; I try to remember that when I'm training them. It's hard sometimes to remember we were all new at some point in our career. I've got under 5 years to go, I'm now the "old man" of the squad looking forward to finishing this job up. I hope your smiling and teaching them up there as well, until me meet again my friend.

Thinking of Lorna and the rest of P.O. Johnson's family. As the daughter of retired NYS/Sr. BCI Frederick P Goldman and sister of retired NYS/BCI Jeffrey Goldman and niece of NYS/BCI Paul Overdorf and cousin to NYSP Jason McCanney, I totally understand the sacrifice.

Hey Bob, went to the Northville Park yesterday they did a memorial for you a pavilion that over looks the little lake. Groff spoke and told how you would call out on a property check at the James Groff memorial park just to bust on him when you knew he was working. Now it's your park buddy I remember when you were field training me and said it was the James Groff park all while having that smile of yours. So I will say this in closing 3811 to dispatch show property check completed at the Robert J Johnson memorial park, all OK until we meet again my friend.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Robert was killed.

To the Johnson family, fellow officers and all who call Robert beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace. I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned for you.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Johnson gave to his community and the citizens of New York and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on July 4, 2017

For Police Officer Robert J. Johnson:

Dedicated law-officers don't have a quitting time nor a period when they are off-duty, as demonstrated by Robert.

We regret that Robert would fall victim of an accident that resulted in him losing his life.

We pray for Robert's family and those close to him. May they be ready to reach out to one another at this time.

We also render Officer Robert Johnson, a soldier-of-the-law, a proud and final salute.
