Family and friends of Deputy Mason Moore, Sheriff Meehan and Broadwater County deputies and employees. My heart broke Tuesday morning when I heard the news of Deputy Mason Moore here in Salt Lake City, Utah. I have no doubt how brave and courageous of a deputy he was and more so, a Father and Husband. Being a former deputy with your neighbor, the Lewis And Clark County Sheriff's Department, I know Townsend and Broadwater County well. Just know that you have the prayers and support of the Salt Lake City Police Department and fellow officers in Utah. God be with you all and keep you all in the palm of His hand. My heart truly goes out to his family as they mourn the loss of their husband and father - I can't possibly understand their pain. Shortest verse in the Bible, "Jesus wept".

Rest in Peace brother and watch over us.
I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, But tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.

I'm saddened by the fact he died at 3a.m. on a lonely stretch of highway by himself, while his wife and children slept soundly at home.
I'm proud of him for choosing the profession he did and for doing his job, at 3a.m., on a lonely stretch of highway, by himself, while practically everyone one else in the country were sleeping soundly in their homes. And they were all sleeping soundly .. because there are men and women out there ... every night ... doing their jobs.
Rest in peace.

"Somebody killed a policeman today,
And a part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect
Will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect who shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights,
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids
And spend alone many long nights.
The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too,
Just as if he'd gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
To his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
It happened in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now, his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And he stands at each new rookie's side.
He answered the call and gave us his all,
And a part of America died."
