Reflections for Sergeant Meggan Lee Callahan
Condolences to you and your family. I admire the fact that you were dedicated to your career and a sergeant so young. You were too young to leave us, but you are better off in a world without hate. May you rest easy. Thank you for your motivation.

Lord, when it’s time to go inside,
That Place of steel and stone.
I pray that you will keep me safe,
So I won’t walk alone.
Help me to do my duty,
Please watch me on my rounds.
Amongst those perilous places,
And slamming steel door sounds.
God, keep my fellow Officers
Well and free from harm.
Let them know I’ll be there too,
Whenever there’s alarm.
Above all when I walk my beat,
No matter where I roam.
Let me go back whence I came,
To family and home.

Rest in peace my sister. It takes a special type of person to be a corrections officer. You go to work knowing who lives in that place, and you still go inside. It takes a lot of courage to do that once, let alone every day. Thank you for keeping us safe from those who would do us harm. Thank you.

For CO Sergeant Meggan Lee Callahan:
Most people today have no clue of the courage it takes to be a corrections officer who walks daily among the worst of our society and behind bars. She suffered an attack by individual now unworthy of rehabilitation and unworthy of any freedom ever. Hardly a word of her heroism ever reaches the newspaper and rarely, if ever, on the television news.
We admire Meggan's courage and proudly recognize her willingness to have stood face-to-face with hardened criminals. Unlike those who resist arrest, and receive sports-type injuries in the process, and who receive large civil settlements, it is doubtful her loved ones will receive even an outcry for justice from the public at large. We in law-enforcement see her as a special individual standing as a hero among us.
We pray for her family, co-workers, friends and all who care about her. May they be ready to reach-out to one another in this hour of need.
We proudly render CO Sergeant Meggan Lee Callahan, a soldier-of-the-law, a final salute.

There aren't words to even say in a time like this. Something like this should never happen but unfortunately is a reality and the possibility in the job that we have.
