Sergeant Callahan, (and family)
As I have read your story this morning it hit close to heart. We are nearly the same age, started the same time, promoted the same time, have children the same age, and enjoy are chosen careers. I tell all my staff every day in muster that we are a family while in this uniform. Greatly out numbered but always close and always having each others backs. I may have even met you at some time as we swing through on the PERT team. Either way, you're still family and always will be. We know what its like to face the dangers we do every day. Dangers that are all but unknown to even our brothers in blue on the other side of the fence, yet, we gladly do it every day. Today, I and the rest of your family, greatly mourn you loss, but are proud of your sacrifice.
To your family, if you need anything, simply ask! You also are in our prayers!

I am SO VERY SAD and SO OUTRAGED because our Correctional Officers are placed in SUCH an UNSAFE, VULNERABLE position having to work in OUTRAGEOUS, LOW staff to inmate ratios. WHEN is Governor Cooper and the ones in CHARGE going to make a change so this will be a SAFER JOB???? You are losing good staff because of this and NO ONE wants to come on board to be hurt of KILLED. I bet Governor Cooper would NOT put ANY of his FAMILY MEMBERS in such a position!!!!!
