Paul you were a fine man, and someone that police work was lucky to attract. Good character and professional demeanor have been lost in our profession but you had it. God bless you and your wonderful devoted family.

I was working nearby that night and responded within seconds to assist Paul (who I helped recruit to the OPD (CA).
Visiting him at home on the adjoining beat was always an honor. Always upbeat and surrounded by his wonderful family.

For your info Ptl. Jim Leahy Jr., (above) the susp was quickly arrested, tried and convicted. After serving his sentence he was released (before Officer Carlisle succumbed to his injuries).

I became an Oakland Police Reserve Officer in 1976, and I remember the shooting. I kept the newspaper article, and I still have it. I just realized today that he had passed away as a result of that shooting.
He will always be remembered!
God Bless his family.

John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

It is good that you have been included here. You deserve the recognition and the respect of your peers.

The fate of your murderer is not listed here, but I like to think he faced true justice, if not in this life, then in the next.

You are a hero for taking and doing the job and for fighting for so long to remain with your loved ones.

God Bless you Brother and may you eternally Rest in Peace.
