Rest In Peace brother. You will be missed. Thank you for your service.
Lord, when it’s time to go inside,
That Place of steel and stone.
I pray that you will keep me safe,
So I won’t walk alone.
Help me to do my duty,
Please watch me on my rounds.
Amongst those perilous places,
And slamming steel door sounds.
God, keep my fellow Officers
Well and free from harm.
Let them know I’ll be there too,
Whenever there’s alarm.
Above all when I walk my beat,
No matter where I roam.
Let me go back whence I came,
To family and home.

A corrections officer should be remembered not by how he died, but how he lived! A great man has gone to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you to you, your family and the Delaware Department of Correction. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Brother!

Special prayers today for the family of Sergeant Floyd, and for his work family. Having experienced the, at times, overwhelming grief when we lost a Washington Department of Corrections staff member to murder by an inmate, I will continue to pray for all of you in the weeks and months to come. God bless all of you.

Sgt. Floyd, I feel (as do many of us) that working in the capacity of Corrections, at ANY level, is one of the toughest jobs in public safety. Every venue of law enforcement/public safety has it's risks and it's hazards, but working in the capacity of keeping the misfits of society away from the rest of us, keeping US safe from them is the epitome of dangerous and courageous.

We, on the outside get to deal with good people as well as bad. You deal with only the bad (even the ones that aren't all THAT bad). You are all true heroes, but this event, this tragic and infuriating event, shows just how much better you are then THEY are.

Those you have left behind are in our thoughts and prayers and I know in my heart, you will never truly be far from them.

God Bless and may your eternal rest be ever Peaceful, Brother.

Rest In Peace Sergeant Steven Floyd. Blessed are the peacekeepers. Know that your 16 years of selfless service in an often thankless and overlooked Law Enforcement Field is not in vain and is appreciated. May your family, friends and coworkers find comfort in this difficult time.
