Rest in Peace Police Officer Eric Mumaw. Thank you for your service. You will not be forgotten.

There are no words that can properly express the pain and loss being felt by the men and women of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department today. My family and I offer our prayers to all those who are feeling the pain of this terrible loss.

Eric Mumaw in word and deed exemplified the integrity and courage that is a hallmark of law enforcement officers, especially the men and women of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Officers who have earned the privilege to wear the badge.

Eric Mumaw will be missed but his sacrifice will be remembered every time a Metropolitan Nashville Police Officer puts on the badge to protect and serve our community.

Officer Mumaw, the lengths you and your fellow Officers went to help this woman were extraordinary, and you are ALL heroes. Did this woman deserve all that effort, we all know that all people in that situation would get it and deserve a chance, but you all did so much more. She's alive thanks to you, but sadly, you are not. It's unbearably tragic. My thoughts and prayers are with all you have left behind, but I know that, as they keep you in their hearts and minds, you will never truly be gone.

God Bless you and may you forever Rest in Peace, Brother.

To the Officers of the MNPD , I have known Eric since he and his roommate Brad lived in the apartments on Blue Hole Road in South Nashville, while they both were still in the academy. Eric was a stand up person, and he helped me get my start in law enforcement. Brother you died a hero, and the pain of Metro loosing you will be hard. I pray that your family gains comfort in knowing you did your job. You will be missed. Thank you for your service.

May God watch over the Family and Fellow Officers that put their lives on the line for us everyday. We all lose when one of these heroes fall. And this one was a terrible loss. I hope his family will find some type of peace during this time of mourning. God will not let them down. Keep Faith and know he is in a better place.

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray:

“Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

I have lifted your family to God every morning for over five years. I pray that Eric's life and death will bring glory to His name.

Feel those prayers. God is with you; He knows and will ease your pain.

America loves its tough guys. What you did made you one of the toughest. I hope when cop-haters rear their ugly head someone reminds them of your sacrifice, your courage, your honor. You're a shining example of what is good about America. Your selflessness will most certainly, be rewarded. Godspeed!!
