Reflections for Lieutenant Debra Lucinda Clayton

Rest in Peace my sister in blue. We will take it from here. May God be with you and your family

The pervasive lawlessness which marked 2016 seems to continue through to this new year. We can not and should not tolerate any attack upon law enforcement, except as an attack upon our entire society. May God rest Sgt. Clayton's soul and grant peace to her family. May they find comfort in knowing her life was a constant measure of devotion and love. My heart breaks for this loss, as does every life within the law enforcement community.

My brother lives in the area and he texted me this morning. He mentioned to me that many people in his circle of friends are very upset about this. It's a testament to the Orlando PD and to Sgt. Clayton. To Orlando PD, the people of Florida, and most importantly to Sgt. Clayton's family, I'm sorry for your loss. My heart aches this morning for the family who lost their mother, wife, sister, child...

A Prayer for Master Sergeant Deborah Clayton:

Lord God, you are always faithful and quick to show mercy. Our Sister-in-Blue, Master Sergeant Deborah Clayton, of the Orlando, Florida Police Department, was taken from us in the Line-of-Duty. Come swiftly to her aid, have mercy on her, and comfort her family, friends, and colleagues by the power and protection of the Cross. Heavenly Father, as we mourn the death of our Sister-in-Blue, Master Sergeant Deborah Clayton, show us the immense power of your goodness and strengthen our belief that she has entered into Your presence. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

“God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted. God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth. God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied. God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy. God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God. God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God. God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs." [Matthew 5:3-10 NLT]

"For the policeman does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him. So if you don't want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. The policeman is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he will have you punished. He is sent by God for that very purpose. Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should." [Romans 13:3-5 TLB]

"There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." [John 15:13 NLT]

"Well done, my good and faithful servant." [Matthew: 25:21 NLT]
