Officer Nicholas, I will pray for the peace of your soul. Your reward in heaven will be great because at a young age, you have chosen a profession that you knew would put your life in constant danger. I thank you. May our Lord immerse you in His Divine Mercy.

God, filled with mercy, dwelling in the heavens' heights,
bring proper rest beneath the wings of your Lord,
amid the ranks of the holy and the pure,
illuminating like the brilliance of the skies the soul of Nicholas Smarr who went to his eternal place of rest.
May You who are the source of mercy shelter him beneath Your wings eternally,
and bind his soul among the living, that he may rest in peace. And let us say: Amen.

A senseless act of violence has robbed us of you, Officer Smarr; you will not live in the hearts and memories of those who knew and loved you. We thank you for your selfless service and sacrifice; I know God has received you with open arms; you now patrol the Streets of Gold with your brothers and sisters who went on ahead of you. Rest well, dear man............

A police officer should be remembered not by how he died, but how he lived! A great man has gone to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you to you, your family and the Americus Police Department. Rest in Peace Brother.

The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord;
he is their stronghold in time of trouble.
The Lord helps them and delivers them;
he delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
because they take refuge in him.

It will be a very sad Christmas for the family of Americus, GA Nicholas Smarr who was killed in the line of duty. It will be event tougher on the Police Department of Americus, GA as they mourn the loss of this brave police officer who was responding to a domestic violence incident at an apartment complex in the city he was serving in. The incident also wounded a campus police officer and if the suspect gets caught, he could face the death penalty for what he did.
