I would like to offer my prayers and condolences for this unnecessary loss of life. Considering the shooter used children as his personal human shields is nothing short of disgusting. The horrible memories that were created for those children due to this man's personal problems is going to last a lofetime. Those memories are not erasable and may not be tolerated to a level the children would ever be able to live a happy, health or productive life. Not only did he take down one of our officers, he literally ruined many lives with the mental stress and torture he caused all involved. Rest in Peace and know your legacy will live on and the streets left behind are being protected by your brothers and sisters in law enforcement.

Wife of a retired CA officer Linn Walker

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray:

“Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

I have lifted your family to God every morning for over five years. I pray that Jake's life and death will bring glory to His name.

Feel those prayers. God is with you; He knows and will ease your pain.

Thank You for being my best friend; for always showing me the way. I am the mother I am because of you-I love you Jake. Words will never justify, contain, or bring comfort to the pain I am in. I am selfish because I want our next memory to be of us at your wedding; for the trip to Hawaii, the little things that always meant so much to us. You will always be my brother my other half, and for always being a protector. I miss you Jake...

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die...

May your friends and family find solace in the memories they shared with you. You are never truly gone.

"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."
