I find it a little bit eerie to be here again around the end of the year with another Washington Law Enforcement Officer killed running in to help, only to be taken from his family, friends and fellow brother and sister officers by someone who would use innocent kids as human shields. For your family sir, my heart is heavy with feelings. I, like many officers/deputies/trooper and all LE, Emergency Services will be there to pay respect to you.
Rest in peace brother in blue

Officer Gutierrez, thank you sir for your service. The criminal who murdered you is a true coward, as evidenced by his using innocent children to act as his shield. Thankfully the killer will not be able to kill again. The law abiding citizens of the city of Tacoma are mourning their loss. We will keep your family and Department in our thoughts. Please watch over us as we carry on.
