Reflections for Sergeant Anthony David Beminio

Dear Uncle Tony,
I miss you everyday. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of you. Life has changed a lot since you were cruel taken out of this world. Nearly 6 years later our family still grieves but also shares and celebrates stories about your life. When your 39th birthday passed a few weeks after you did, we released balloons and wrote messages on them. I wrote that I would stop my self harm. I'm still trying to fulfill that promise. I love you and miss you more than words can describe. You will always be my angel. We may not get to see you anymore but I know you're there.

Love you,
Your niece Katie

Sgt Beminio I never got to meet you but as a citizen of Des Moines I have had the honor of thanking several of our officers for their service. My thoughts and prayers are always with your family even 5 years later they are still prayed for. Loosing a good officer has made alot of us appreciate our law enforcement officers more every day. Thank you sir for your service and sacrifice.

I am so sorry. My husband's EOW was in 2004. He worked. Hawthorne PD in Calif. This is absolutely ridiculous & getting out of control! My complete sympathies to your department & both families. My soul hurts!

I personally knew a Sgt Beminio when he was "Officer Tony" at Theodore Roosevelt High School. Sgt Beminio imbodied "Iowa nice". One summer I was selling admission to softball games in the sun (go Riders!). Sgt Beminio purchased an ice cold Gatorade for me out of pocket each game I worked. I told him I had money, but he said to "save it for someone special. I make more and you have gas to buy" or something funny like that. The man was always smiling with students. Its because of Tony I chose my major in CJ and spent the last 7 years in my chosen field. Tony left a VERY positive impact on myself and undoubtedly others.

John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

Sgt. Beminio,

Your funeral was an amazing production that I was proud and honored to have been a part of. Your father shared some encouraging words with me as I struggled to hold back tears. Words that I will never forget. He told me to never lose sight of why I do this job. I'm sure they were words spoken from you, through your father, to me. Similar to how you told your father to never quit. When I heard that story at your funeral, it all made sense.

God Speed brother!
