Reflections for Police Officer Jose Gilbert Vega
It is So very wrong that LEOs who serve and protect civilians in our Great Nation are routine subjected to life threatening situations every single day they go out to patrol, and we routinely reward LEOs with low wages, high stress and critical assessment of their performance. I'm again deeply saddened over the lost of officer Gill Vega and officer Lesley Zerebny. My heartfelt condolences to the Vega and Zerebny family members, and too officers' Vega and Zerebny brothers and sisters on the Palm Springs Police Department, especially to Chief Bryan Reyes. MAY GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERY OFFICER ON THE PALM SPRINGS POLICE DEPARTMENT.

Your sacrifice will never be forgotten. I am in awe at the bravery my brothers and sisters on the Streets, Jails and Prisons demonstrate on a daily basis. I wish everyone knew the level of bravery and dedication shown by all Officers who walk the Thin Blue Line. Officer Vega and Officer Zerebny, you paid the ultimate price serving and protecting the citizens of Palm Springs. May God bless you, your family and your Department. RIP

A portion of a letter written by President Abraham Lincoln, printed in the Boston Evening Transcript on November 25, 1864.
“I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic (he) died to save.
I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.
Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,
A. Lincoln”
