Dear Steve:

Los Angeles County had, for 29 years, a man who gave all, everyday, to keep it's citizens safe. I never had the honor to know or meet you, but in reality, we are brothers. We lived by the words, "Protect and serve". A cliché to some, a code for us in law enforcement.

Giving your life has removed yet another felon from the streets. But I don't hear, see or read any of the stories of the wails of a widow, the broken heatedness of children, the destroyed dreams, that remain.

But what I do hear, more frequently now than ever, is the average citizen publicly saying, "Thank you for your service". Well deserved, long overdue. No words of mine, nor anyone else, can eliminate the pain and sorrow your family now has to live with. I truly hope, that our Almighty God will bless your family and help them heal.

Rest in peace, my brother, and know that few people can have the character, tenacity and professionalism you displayed. You provided an invaluable service to Los Angeles County. Now it's our turn, as a nation, to forever remember the sacrifice you made so others can live free from evil and in peace.

May Almighty God bless you, your family, and God Bless the United States of America.

Lake Mary Police, Fl.

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray:

“Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

I have lifted you and your family to God every morning for over five years. Feel those prayers. God is with you; He knows and will ease your pain.

Our faith helps us to see beyond the grave.

Words cannot express how I feel. You have been a great mentor and role model. I will miss your sarcastic words and seeing you everyday. I always thought of you as Superman. Losing a loved one is difficult. Please take comfort in Jesus words found at John 5:28,29 where he said that there would be a resurrection. Just think of the time when you will see your loved ones again, in paradise conditions, here on earth.
