Reflections for Police Officer Patricio Enrique Zamarripa
Thinking of you today. I remember you riding with me on "Little T" and always being in a good mood. Running across I-30 after Agg Robbery suspect. You are a hero and always will be in my heart and mind. RIP Brother.

Z,
I still wait for you to come walking in my office every day. My son remembers meeting you when we were at Southeast. He will pull up videos on youtube for me. You made an impact on him. This sucks, and I don't think the collective suck of that day will ever go away. Miss you pal.

Dear Pat:
“WHEN?”
When, Father God, will the cries of widows be silenced for the deceased spouse?
When, Father God, will the cries of the orphaned children become a thing of the past?
When, Father God, will the public realize the sacrifice of the officers AND their families?
When will the day come when we can stop adding names to “The Wall”?
When, Father God, will the candle of the wicked be put out forever?
You lived your life and career as an example to others to emulate, though it will be difficult. You did this job, certainly not for the pay, (as you are not “an athlete!), but like the rest of us, because you decided to take a stand against evil and the peace loving people of our nation. To keep them safe from harm and all the degradations of the world.
Pat, some people have a convoluted idea of what a hero is. Someone who can throw a football, swing a bat, do a “3 pointer”, a “Hat trick”. Not heroes, JUST sports players. But YOU, Pat, and every man and woman who puts on a badge and gun, and our REAL heroes.
May you rest in peace and know your service and sacrifice to the people of Dallas, shall not be in vain. Though you left us to go home, our Thin Blue Line has held. To Americans everywhere: When you see a police officer, why not say “Thank you for your service”? It has an impact that you can’t understand.
Rest in peace, Amen.

It angers me when all of the police are painted in a bad way for the actions of a few (very few) bad cops and suspicious shootings in Louisiana, Minnesota, and South Carolina. Bad cops like Slager can not paint a negative picture of law enforcement. People saw the brave things you did on that night. These .5% of bad apples cannot and will not represent you. You are more honorable than that and you did more than enough to prove that on that tragic night.
You had absolutely nothing to do with those shootings and were only doing your job and more than that. You did not deserve the terrible things that happened to you, your family, and your fellow officers.

Rest in Peace brother and watch over us.
I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, But tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.

"My Brother"
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was idealistic and believed he could make a difference.
He was immensely proud of the uniform and the badge and what they represent.
He felt privileged to be of service to his department, his community and to his country.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was friendly, courteous, and polite, yet firm.
He laughed and joked, but was serious when necessary.
He was competent, trained, and professional.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He had a strong sense of right and wrong and became
frustrated when true justice became sidetracked.
He felt the sharp criticism that goes with the job, but he
never wavered.
He stood by and for his fellow officers.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He longed for his family during the long hours.
He worried about them during his shifts and the lonely
weekends, holidays and midnights when they were apart.
He felt guilty about the lost time, but knew his calling
and prayed they would understand.
He was a cop.
Although I never met him, I knew him.
He was a good son, a loving husband, and a devoted father.
He was dedicated to the profession and cared about the
people he served.
He wanted to do the best job that he could and strived to
be the best he could be.
He was a good citizen and a good neighbor.
He was a cop.
Yes, I did know him.
He was a cop, he was my Brother.
Rest easy Brother Zamarripa, we have the watch...

I have no Rank. I have no Title. What I do have is a heart full of sorrow tonight. I see your young dear face so full of hope and optimism, yet you died in such a negative and hopeless way. You represented good and the shooter represented evil. You went down but you went down a hero. We will never forget what you and your comrades did to help rid our world of evil. Your actions saved lives and I hope you rest in peace at the feet of God.

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray:
“Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”
Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.
I have lifted you and your family to God every morning for over five years. Feel those prayers. God is with you; He knows and will ease your pain.
Our faith helps us to see beyond the grave.

Officer Zamarripa,
I want to personally thank you for the dedication and service to our country. The courage and unwavering dedication to duty, to God, to Country, and to Humanity were inspirational and on full display on that infamous evening.
I did not personally know you but I am proud to call you "SHIPMATE"
You exemplified the Navy motto of HONOR, COURAGE, AND COMMITTMENT.
As you touch the face of GOD, I can image that GOD will welcome you aboard with a stentorian "BRAVO ZULU"!!!
Rest in Peace,
SHIPMATE.
