I am a member of a Daughters of the Utah Pioneers group in Grantsville. We would like to put a marker at the Grantsville cemetery for Festus Sprague, there is one for Lydia B. Sprague 10/22/1834-9/4/1862 in the spot listed. We are willing to raise funds to put this marker in so the citizens of Grantsville will remember this great man. Any input from his family would be greatly appreciated.

Brother, your ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten. I'm tasked with the duty of Over Watch for patrol, I pray everyday that our small department will never have to pay the ultimate sacrifice again. I know if that day comes again you'll be waiting with open arms to take us home.

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in the day of Battle; be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into hell, Satan and all the other evil spirits, who prowl through the world, seeking the ruin of souls.

I never knew this fellow brother/officer, but his dedicated to the badge and everything we stand for will never be forgotten. Saint Michael the archangel, defend us in the day of battle; be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into hell, Satan and all the other evil spirits, who prowl through the world, seeking the ruin of souls.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 146th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace
