Lord Jesus, as we watch our nation’s brave law enforcement officers succumb to the wicked and evil in this world, it becomes difficult for us to pick up and move forward. Our communities are on the brink of exploding with tension. In light of the law enforcement officers who are no longer with us, I pray for endurance for our communities and law enforcement agencies. Carry us through this time of strife, that through our struggles, our bonds may grow even more unbreakable. In Your mighty and holy name, I pray. Amen.
“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” [Isaiah 6:8 ESV]
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” [Psalm 23:4 ESV]

I met Scott when I first was assigned to MTS in 1996. He always joked around with me, had a great sense of humor and a big heart. For so many of us, especially those of us there that day, is not just one day a year of tribute and remembrance. Everyday brings a memory to us. The sense of loss is always there. Today i remember Scott. Rest easy brother.

I first met Scott when we both worked at the Hotel Millennium which is ironically directly across from the WTC. We graduated from the academy together and had the opportunity to see each other from time to time. We bumped into each other at Ground Zero and always had a funny hotel story to tell. Scott was a great guy and by reading these accounts, all of you felt the same way. Rest in power my brother. God bless you and your family always.

As we remember on this 18th anniversary those who lost their lives on this tragic date, it is important to also recognize and remember those whose lives were also cut short based on illnesses contracted as a result of these attacks. I do not have many memories I can treasure regarding Scott as the Captain he was for New York, but have countless memories of Scott the college student, roommate and friend from St. Mary's in Winona. As most of us from that graduation class celebrated our 50th birthday at some point within this past year, it continues to be bittersweet knowing you could not celebrate this same milestone as well. God Bless you and your family Scott, and this anniversary will always brings out my great memories of the 4 years we shared in the small northern town of Winona.
