Reflections for Police Officer Steven Michael Smith
As someone who is just halfway through the academy I can only hope my career will be a fraction of this Hero. My heartfelt condolences to the family and know that this man's reputation reached all the way to Southern California and beyond. The Nation is a little poorer for losing a man of this caliber.

We are hearing these days about how terrible it is that Police are being armed like the military and yet we see things like this happen REGARDLESS of the equipment available. It's disgraceful and the politicians should shut the hell up and allow Police to do the job THEY know.
Officer Smith, God Bless you for the work you did and the effort you made to keep your part of America safe. You are and always will be a hero. Your family and all who know and love you best will forever be in the prayers of those of us who KNOW the job and KNOW the risks. Your family members are also heroes for they supported you in your efforts.
Rest in Peace, Brother. You have truly earned it.

Avenue of the Fallen
Standing at attention in their class “A“uniforms, badges gleaming and shoes like glass, are your brothers and sisters of Law Enforcement. All of whom have previously paid the ultimate price.
Today, like many others, they welcome you to this wonderful place.
As you march down the Avenue of the Fallen, all eyes focus on you as if to say “it’s OK, you’re with your eternal partners.”
A salute is followed and a tear can be seen on so many faces.
Welcome, you served well.
Now come join us in the ranks, another is coming home.
