First Sergeant, thank you for your service to our country and to its people. Most will never know the long hours and double shifts you worked to protect the helpless, serve those who many in society cast away, the rescuer of those who were desperate and in fear from evil men. The counselor that other Troopers and Officers could go to when someone they had just tried to save passed away or the kind words spoken to grieving families when they tragically lost a loved one. Thank you that despite the fact of knowing any call could be your last, your last opportunity to hug your loved ones and see their faces, you risked all to serve, protect and bring peace in the most horrific of circumstance and you did it day after day and year after year. The fact that you have been so highly praised by those who know you best demonstrates the incredible character that you had and others wanted to emulate. The least a nation can do is to thank you and honor you with a procession of those very Troopers and Officers who share in your legacy. You who for years gave of your life to us should be honored as the genuine hero and great man you were. The world is a better place for having you in it, because you lived a courageous, selfless, disciplined, willing to go more than the extra mile kind of life that caused other men to want to live and be more like you and my son is one of them, thank you for your example.
God bless and comfort your family, they have much to be proud of.
