So sad, such a loss, and all due to hatred.
Such destruction and violence.
May all of you know that there are those of us who hear the news, care, pray and try to do our best to nip violence in the bud.
There are no words sufficient to describe the loss of humanity.
But knowing fellow human beings care and love is a start.
May God bless your families every day as they deal with this loss.
So unnecessary, so sad

I was extremely saddened to hear when the news broke. I was on my way home that night on Spriggs Rd when 4 units drove past me going Code 3. I had this sick feeling that something terrible was happening. It broke my heart when I learned what they were rushing to. I never want to see one of these ODMP alerts because I care about all LEOs, but I especially cringe when I hear PWCPD. I have several personal friends in their department. PWCPD is very dear to me. All I have to offer our my sincere condolences and prayers to her family, friends, and loved ones...especially to her personal family in Blue at PWCPD. Cannot even imagine what they are going through. So young. So very sad. Thank you for your service to our country and your community, ma'am. I know you will be greatly missed. Stay strong PWCPD and all those in LE. There is still a remnant who love, care, and appreciate everything you all do each and every day for us as citizens. Take care and stay safe! We have your back!

For Police Officer Ashley Marie Guindon:

No doubt we all can remember our first day, after graduating from the academy, and joining the ranks of the many other soldiers-of-the law. A proud day and a day that most of us felt that, "I am here and I am ready to clean up this place!" Not hardly soon enough we were "tamped-down" by our senior officer's who provided us with "true knowledge" of policing - something not really taught at the training school.
We regret that our sister Ashley would not experience the full-transformation most of us were lucky enough to receive as rookie officers. We might ask ourselves, "Why? Why would a new officer have to meet such a terrible fate as death on the first (I say..the first) day on the job?!"
No answer is in stock, anywhere, to this question. What is important is that Ashley fulfilled her dream of becoming a law-officer. The rest is truly out of our hands.
While we regret such a fate, and might forever question this horrific incident, it stamps indelibly in our minds the reality of high-risk duty. Each of us really knows the worst can happen from day until day zero. It is a reality. It indeed is our very lot. We who survive are the lucky ones - so we should never, ever, commend ourselves of being skilled-enough. Danger is ever-present and neither respects nor recognizes anyone at any time in police-work.
We pray for Ashley's family, co-workers, friends, and all who care about her. May they be ready to reach-out to one another in the days ahead.
We are proud to render Police Officer Ashley Marie Guindon, a soldier-of-the-law, a final salute.

Cpl. Ralph D. Fiorenza (Ret.)
Pennsylvania State Police
