Reflections for Police Officer Ashley Marie Guindon

Once you take the oath and put on that badge your a part of the Blue Line. I was heart broken when I heard the news, as a former FTO I know the eagerness of a rookie officer. I can't even begin to understand what the PW County Police are suffering with this tragic loss. I will ask the Lord to welcome Officer Guindon to the Roll Call room in Heaven to take her seat with all the fallen heroes present. God Bless .

Honor and courage will be be synonymous with your life and memories. You devoted your life to continued Public Service: A United States Marine and a Police Officer. It does not get more honorable than that. It is all too sad that your life was cut short as you placed yourself in harms way to help, protect and save another person. You will never be forgotten for your selfless acts of heroism. It is a shame that your life was taken by a spineless yellow coward who kills women and destroys families. I hope society will only remember your brave acts of responding to a threat and doing your best to intervene on behalf of those who needed you most. That is what Marines do, They stick up for those who can't stick up for themselves! Semper Fidelis

No words can express the sadness my husband and I feel over this tragic and senseless loss. My husband was a police officer for Prince William County for many years, and Officer Guindon's death has just broken our hearts. Saying thank you seems so insignificant at this time, but please know that you have a grateful nation that appreciates your service to your country and to the citizens of Prince William County. Heartfelt condolences and sympathy to your mother and grandmother. May they find comfort and peace knowing you died a hero, sacrificing your life for the lives of others. Rest easy and Godspeed, Officer Guindon. You are gone from this Earth, but Heaven has gained an angel who will continue her watch. May God bless you always.

The fear of not knowing if you'll return home is the most gut wrenching feeling ever. The reality of that feeling is never easy to cope with either. While I never had the pleasure of knowing you, just know this... We LEO's have the watch here below and you watch over us from above. Rest In Peace Sister!!

“Marines”

You can have your Army Kakiis,
And your Navy Blues,
But here’s a different fighting man,
I’ll introduce to you.
His uniform is unlike,
Any you’ve ever seen,
The Germans called him “Devil Dog”,
His title is “Marine”.

He was trained in Parris Island,
The place that God forgot,
The sand was fourteen inches deep,
The sun was blazing hot.
He awakened up one morning,
In front of his rack he’ll stand,
And in through the doorway walked,
A giant of a man.

He turned and faced this young Marine,
With eyes as cold as steel,
He said, “I am your DI,
And this is for real.
I’ll make your life as miserable,
As miserable as I can,
And when you finally leave this place,
You’ll be a fighting man.
You’ll be a rifle expert,
You’ll know your weapon well,
And when you encounter the Viet Cong,
You’ll send their souls to Hell.

Now gather around you young Marines,
And lend me all your ears,
And I’ll tell you of a few things,
We’ve conquered through the years,
We fought at Iwo Jima,
The land of fire and Hell,
We killed all those Japanese,
And took their land as well.

Now you can tell your ladies,
And this my Lad is true,
To get herself a young “Marine”,
There is nothing he can’t do.
He’s peeled a million onions,
And twice as many spuds,
Then you’ll find him in the slop chutes,
A soaking up the suds.

And when he gets to Heaven,
St.Peter he will tell,
Another “Marine” reporting Sir.
I’ve served my time in Hell.

In Honor of your Sacrifice and for your family and friends, I salute you as a HERO! May God
Give the family and friends the strength and faith to deal with this tragic loss. Words can not express my sorrow!

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and department of Officer Guindon.

Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none.

When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself. Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

I do not know who you, your family or friends are, but thank l you for your service not only as a cop but a Marine as well. You and your family have paid the ultimate price for protecting and serving. I can only hope that people see that and don't make this a racial thing. ...because ALL LIVES MATTER, you have family, friends and co-workers that are now without a parent, sibling, child, grandchild, aunt, niece...the list can go on, but no matter how you look at it a loss is a loss and your life can never be replaced. For your family the only words I can tell you from my experiences with losing someone very very close to me. ...."It NEVER gets better, just easier with time". Once again. ..Thank you, your family and friends for allowing us to be protected and served by you for the small amount of time we were, and now you shall go on protecting and serving just on a much much larger scale. It has been a privilege and am honor.

Tragic Tragic
Until you have one very close to you suddenly die you really cannot imagine the pain. Every day some 2500 people believe they will be alive the next day in America. Tragic for this family. Tragic that law enforcment is viewed by this current administration as nothing but the thugs we must encounter on a daily bases. My sincerely condolences to her family.

Another tragic loss for our unique family. It is a special breed and a few select people that continue to take a stand against those that attempt to hold us down. Ashley is a two time HERO as she took a stand in harms way to protect her country and her streets. As a Marine and Law Enforcement Officer, Ashley was hand picked by GOD to serve selflessly for others to enjoy all the flag and badge stand for. Very few had the honor of knowing Ashley to include myself but all are honored to have with served her. To her family in GOD, COUNTRY, and BADGE please accept my gratitude and condolences in your time of loss. ASHLEY will be missed by many and now she is your GUARDIAN ANGEL and is watching your six. I look forward to the day I meet you ASHLEY at the pearly gate.
