Reflections for Corporal Nathaniel Alan Carrigan

My heart is breaking for the families of all of the officers being killed at the hands of evil.

As a black man who is and has always been pro-police nationwide, your loss is not just yours, but mine too.

For the most part, the media is silent when it comes to the unfortunate loss of our police officers gun down in the line of duty, but are seemingly always readily available when a white officer kills someone black.

But know this Sheriff F. Wegener, when Cor. Carrigan lost his life, a part of my life was lost too.

May God Bless your entire police dept. and May God Bless law enforcement nationwide.

Corporal Carrigan once told me that his favorite part of his job was finding youth about to make bad decisions, and convincing them to follow a different path. In his years of service it's hard to guess how many lives he changed for the better, but I know we are poorer for his loss. He will be missed, but his impact on his community will endure long after. Thank you for your service.

Nate was a friend, a coach, and an excellent LEO. I had opportunity on 2 occasions to do a ride along with him. His family lives close to us. He will be missed by not only the men in blue he worked with but the coaches and players that he helped. Our community is better for him growing up and choosing to serve here too. May God comfort the Carrigan family and the PCSO family he served with.
