The Sheriffs of Florida and their deputies will never forget the sacrifice you and your family made to uphold our laws and protect society.

Your name has been inscribed on the Florida Sheriffs and the National Law Enforcement Memorial and in our hearts. May you forever rest in peace.

A scripture inscribed on the Florida Sheriffs Law Enforcement Memorial:

"Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called the children
of God." Matthew 5:9

I know and worked with family members of yours at the SO. We all knew your story very well, and we looked at your picture in the front of the office almost every day it reminded me and other officers that the ultimate sacrfice could come at any moment. Thank you sir for your sacrifice and I know you are guarding the streets of heaven.

I do not know you but I am a resident of Leon county and have read of the accounts of your death over 55 years ago. People don't really consider what law enforcement puts on the line each day....that wearing that badge also means an agreement in some cases to give up everything about life to protect your fellow man. You've given all the normal happy things in life for us. Shopping at the mall, going to the beach, lunch with friends..travel...and of course all the events with family gone since 1970..all gone for us. I never knew you deputy, but you helped make my world safer. I want you to know that when I drive by the former location of Luke's Grocery, I say an Our Father for you and your family. 55 years later, your sacrifice is not forgotten. Nor is Officer Ponce de Leon's who had to make the same ultimate sacrifice not far from you.
