I had a training class with the local sheriffs office when I was on active duty. Amongst our class was 3 UCCS officers, what a fine department. Its a terrible loss. Thank you for all you did Officer and RIP!

My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Officer Garrett Swasey at this time. I am sure he will be missed by all who knew him well as an officer. It will be a very sad Christmas without him for his family and fellow officers as well as all of Colorado Springs, CO. This was a very tragic event that took his life as of today. Things like this don't happen like this everyday but some events do like this one that happened today where a gunman walked into a Planned Parenthood and started shooting. He took four lives at the facility today including Officer Swayse. Extremely tragic this event that happened today in Colorado Springs.

My heart breaks for Officer Swasey's family, fellow officers and friends. There are no adequate words. Unfortunately, I feel your pain because my son was also fatally shot on 9/13/2015. You will be in our thoughts and prayers daily. I will leave you with this...my 8 year old grand-daughter recited this Irish Blessing before 1000's the day we laid my son to rest.

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
May the rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again...
May the Lord hold you in the palm of his hand.
May He bless you and keep you safe.
