First time I heard officer down by your cousin, Hannah, was a few years ago. Made me think of my best friends aunt who was shot and killed in 2018. Know you are missed truly by those you left an impact on. We have the watch from here.

I don't even know the guy, I only found out about him from the song. But when I finally got the chance to look up his badge number, I was not surprised at all that they made a song for him. He was a really nice guy, and sometimes I think now that he's in Heaven looking down on his wife and saying, "Wow, that's a pretty nice song!" I hope you all remember he's still there, and he loves you.

The last thing you expect to hear is the words " Officer Down." For the family of Officer Ellis , my deepest condolences for your loss. He willingly put his life on the line when he swore an oath to protect and serve. Time can never erase the hurt you suffer, but it can cement his name as one of many officers who gave their life in the line of duty and will always be remebered for it.

My son and I heard Hannah's song,"Officer Down" the other day as we traveled just past I-75 in Atlanta. I looked up the story behind it and saw that tomorrow is the anniversary of Officer Daniel's end of watch. There are no words that can help, not one thing comforting that I can say, but know I am so thankful for our officers everywhere. Your family will be in my prayers, and I ask for prayer in return as now my nephews are serving in the first responder force: one as a firefighter and the other as an officer. May God bless you for your sacrifice.

Wow, as I sit here & read these kind comments six years later, I can tell you the family pain is as severe as it was that fateful day we got the news. Please continue to pray for Daniel’s parents, Nancy & Kelly, who still grieve daily. Daniel’s memory will live on as the kindest and most generous human you’d ever meet. He was precious to us, his family & his friends. Thank you all for your kind words!

Every time I heard this song I cry because my husband is a LEO and I can't imagine how hard it was for officer Ellis' wife receiving that horrible phone call. Prayers for his family and friends

I am very sorry for this. I am relieved they have retired his badge. It is a honor No one wants to receive . In a club no one wants to join.
God bless those who still serve. God bless his wife and child.

I remember seeing Daniel the time I went down to Richmond, it was literally a week before he had gotten shot. He was an amazing dude, he helped me and my parents fix the tire.. I never knew he had gotten shot till recently.. He died too young.

Officer Ellis, you are not forgotten. Your cousin's song inspired me to help the California Highway Patrol because I wanted to be like you even though I have to face I will never stop myself from getting my badge. Badge Number 457 is all over town and the state of Kentucky. Rest in Peace #457

This Officer was mercilessly slain in the line of duty, His life had come to an abrupt end for no reason, It's absolutely terrible what happened and i hope that god had welcomed him with open arms, Not for his uniform, Not for his rank, title or position. But for himself. I don't personally know him but I am sure he was an amazing man and a better husband. God rest his soul.
