Reflections for Trooper II Nathan-Michael William Smith

John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

I had the pleasure of meeting Nathan's wife and son today at the arrival of the C.O.P.S. kid's camp. Both amazing people. I had the pleasure to play soccer and Twister with Nathan. He is an amazing child and I hope to see them again next year!

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Nathan-Michael was killed.

To the Smith family, fellow troopers, and all who call Nathan-Michael beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Trooper gave to his community and the citizens of Virginia and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 21, 2015.

My deepest condolences to Trooper Smith's wife, children, parents, friends, and fellow colleagues of the Virginia State police. Notice God's words of comfort at Revelation 20:12,13 "I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and scrolls were opened. But another scroll was opened; it is the scrolls according to their deeds. And the sea gave up the dead in it, and death and the Grave gave up the dead in them, and they were judged individually according to their deeds." Trooper Smith died doing a good deed; because of that, his future prospect of living in a new world is promised. I pray these words heel the pain of your loss.

The ultimate sacrifice to protect and serve is that of unselfishness, dedication and caring for the welfare of others. It is presented every second in those who serve in any way to our Country. I am one who sleeps and lives under your protection. How can I ever thank you for such an enormous service? My heart is heavy when you fall and so full of sorrow for loss. May God keep you as your duty is now in Heaven and may his love cradle your family, friends and Brothers and Sisters in Law Enforcement as they , we, go in heavy heart.

May God comfort you and your family as you mourn the death of your loved one. A loved one lost can grieve the heart, and make us yearn for tomorrow, when God will keep the promise he made of no pain, on death, and no sorrow. Rev21:3,4.
