Like so many others, I have seen too many deaths among my brother and sister officers throughout my career. It never gets easier. Several of these fallen heroes have been close friends or acquaintances.

Losing a friend or loved one is a uniquely personal experience therefore I never used the words, "I know how you feel." I don't..I can't. I can only say that my prayers and thoughts are with you.
