I have laid down my life in service to all of you.
I have been a part of that thin blue fabric that has held the line between your safety and your victimization. I have given my life so that others may live in peace. I have lived my life as a dedicated member of the greatest profession. There is no greater honor.

As I now become a part of the rich history of law enforcement, please remember me always for I have left behind those who loved and depended upon me.
My partners and my agency, please remember my family, their loss, and don’t let time soften your compassion for them.

You guard the gate now and I will continue my watch from above.

THE STAFF OF THE SILVER STATE NATIONAL PEACE OFFICERS MUSEUM SENDS CONDOLENCES TO OFFICER BOLTON'S FAMILY. HE WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN. OFFICER BOLTEN, MAY YOU REST IN PEACE AND MAY YOUR FAMILY FIND COMFORT IN THE GOOD YOU HAVE DONE HERE ON EARTH.

It's sad to see another Brother in Blue gunned down by evil. May God bless Officer Bolton's family, friends and my brothers and sisters with the Memphis Police Department. I pray God brings comfort and peace to them: John 16:33. "The wicked flee when no one is pursuing, But the righteous are bold as a lion'' Proverbs 28:1. I pray for God to bring justice in this case.

"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

May God watch over your family and may they receive the support they deserve throughout these difficult times. Those who took your life and participated in this cowardly crime will be held accountable. You will enter Valhalla and be surrounded by your brothers and sisters with whom you served. Godspeed Brother.

Please extend my sympathy to all who are suffering this loss. My father was a county sheriff years ago, and was in radio contact with a deputy to pulled over a driver and ws shot to death as my Dad listened. It was something Dad never recovered from. I wish you all Godspeed as you do your dangerous and often thankless jobs.
