To the Nelson and Bakersfield Police family my sincere condolences. Everyday when we put on that uniform and walk out through that front door we don't know what the unknown challenges are. Not many people are willing to risk the unknown but Officer Nelson did everyday. Officer Nelson did his best in protecting and safeguarding his community. For that we are grateful. Officer Nelson went beyond to serve and protect. He made the ultimate sacrafice in making this community a safer place for all of us. He is a true hero and will never be forgotten
