David was a great kid, great football player, great person. I was lucky to see a young man grow up and see him accomplish his goal of becoming a peace officer. he always had a great smile and gave all of his friends big bear hugs. i was lucky to be one of his friends. i loved him as one of my kids. this world is going to be different now.

May you Rest In Peace brother. I know everyone in Burbank high school will miss you. till we meet again.

If the driver of the vehicle you pursued has an once of humanity and even a sliver of a conscience, he or she will turn him or herself in. If that is not the case, may that person find true justice, if not in this world, then in the next.

Thank you for your service, Brother. God Bless and may you forever Rest in Peace.

God, filled with mercy, dwelling in the heavens' heights,
bring proper rest beneath the wings of your Lord,
amid the ranks of the holy and the pure,
illuminating like the brilliance of the skies the soul of David Nelson who went to his eternal place of rest.
May You who are the source of mercy shelter him beneath Your wings eternally,
and bind his soul among the living, that he may rest in peace. And let us say: Amen.
