Reflections for Deputy U.S. Marshal Zacarias Toro, Jr.

On behalf of the Westerville, Ohio Division of Police, our thoughts and prayers are with the immediate family of Deputy US Marshal Zacarias Toro and the extended law enforcement family of the United States Marshal’s Service. Rest in Peace brother and watch over us.

I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, But tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.

I was in High School when the towers fell. I watched the second tower fall from a spot in NJ where you could see the NYC skyline. After that day, everything changed. I wish I was there to help you and all the others, DUSM Toro. I'm proud today to be among your ranks and call you a brother having become a Deputy U.S. Marshal myself. May you rest in peace and thank you for your service. You are a true hero and will be sorely missed.

Deputy Marshal Toro, you are a hero and a role model. God Bless you for all your efforts, and not just at Ground Zero, but in your quest for justice through the U.S. Marshal's Service. You have made your nation proud, but how sad that so many Marshals do their job, day in day out without anyone knowing, but it takes your passing for you to be recognized.

So long as your wife, sons and all who know and love you best keep you alive in their hearts and minds, you will never truly be far from them.

God Bless and may you forever Rest in Peace, Brother.
