Reflections for Sheriff Ladson Lamar O'Connor

There will never be another Sheriff like him. He was more than just a boss to all of us. There were times when he was our counselor, best friend and biggest supporter. He made the county a better place and inspired us all to become better deputies.

John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

Capt. Kendrick - Thank you so much for riding in memory of Ladson. I am his mother-in-law, but to me he was never an in-law - he was my son. He was a very special man who had a passion to serve his county and the people who live here. As a child, his dream was to become sheriff of Montgomery County - and he did, but it was short lived. He loved children and hated drugs...and the fight against drugs cost him his life.
Hopefully I can meet you in Washington and say "Thank You" in person.

I will be riding in your memory this May in the 2016 Law Enforcement United "Road to Hope" bicycle ride. It is the least I can do to honor an officer who gave his life in the protection of others. May you rest in peace .

John 5:28, 29 reads "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming n which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out." I hope the above scripture beings some comfort to Sheriff O' Connor's wife, children, family, friends, and colleagues. What a wonderful prospect that God has outlined for those who have fallen asleep in death.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Ladson was killed.

To the O'Connor family, his deputies, and all who call Ladson beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace. I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned for you.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Sheriff O'Connor gave to his community and the citizens of Georgia, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on June 16, 2015

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray:

“Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”

I have lifted you and your family to God every morning for over four years. Feel those prayers. God is with you; He knows and will ease your pain.

Our faith helps us to see beyond the grave.
