Reflections for Police Officer Kenneth Michael Hansen

Doesn’t seem possible that it is now 33 years since Kenny has graced us with his glowing life. Our hearts will always break for his wonderful parents, brothers and sister-and all who knew and loved Kenny. Thank you for all you gave and all you still remain.
God bless the Hansen family ❤️

I had the pleasure of befriending your parents back in mid 90's when I was a police officer in the 63 Precinct. They always showed their complete dedication to the NYPD faternal organizations and spoke of you often. It's amazing that I came across this today on your 31 year anniversary. Continue to rest in peace and thank you for serving the people of the City of New York.

I'm in email contact with John Hansen and thought it was about time I decided to write about Kenny. Although I didn't know Kenny I had the pleasure of serving in the Harbor Unit on temporary assignment, summers of 1967, 68, 69, 70 along side Kenny's father, John.
If Kenny was anything like his father, I can imagine what a great guy he must have been.
Rest in Peace Kenny.

Hi Kenny this is Smitty!, I want everyone to know what a truly down to earth person you are in the short time I had to know and work with you.
You are a credit to your family and missed by everyone who crossed paths with you. I remember the day you told me you were heading to Harbor and that huge smile of yours lit up the room. I know your memory is carried in many hearts. We need more Kenny Hansens in this world. I just retired on my lod injury when your life was cut short. I remember feeling so out of place standing off to the side in my trench coat and out of the bag, and I cried like a baby when the missing man formation passed over head. I never forget you Kenny, God Bless.

Smitty,
61 Pct.

After 7 brutal months of digging we finally buried brother John NYPD LODD 9/11/01 14 years ago today on June 11.
While graveside today I thought of Kenny's parents who were most comforting to myself and my family during those difficult days.
Our sad anniversary's are intertwined. My sadness for the parents of Kenny Hansen will also never be forgotten.

It was my honor to research newspapers, magazines, online & books to find your ID CARD Photo. I found this photo in a 1991 NYPD MEDAL DAY BOOKLET about your heroic sacrifice. I felt it was necessary to have a photo on this website so that your family & friends can remember you. Rest Easy Hero! Always Remembered!

Kenny was part of my family as long as I can remember. He mom and dad all my life was known as aunt and uncle his brothers and sister as cousin. I never will forget the day I found out you had left us I was in 8th grade and came home from school and my dad was crying watching the news and there was a picture of u saying u were missing. It broke my heart there was a cousin, a friend and a baseball coach taken from us way to early. Here it is 21 years later and the memory of you has never left me. I love and miss you Kenny see you on the other side
