Nigel, today's the day. Your brothers and sisters are sending you home and celebrating your life. What a life you lead! I will always cherish our talks about life, motorcycles seeing you almost high side your bike at the track, or going to lunch with the Welshie. I thought I was in a foreign country with all the king's English going around. I will never forget how you treated people, even the people that didn't see eye with you. I will take how you treated people as a guideline how I should treat people, in my professional and private life. You were a police officer for such a short time, but we're an example of how the job should be done day in and day out. You loved Julie like no husband has ever loved a wife, another guideline for us. You were such a great human being and even in death you have touched so many people and a community as a whole! Today is going to be horribly tough for some of us. I will miss you my friend! Until we meet again...goodbye brother!

For Officer Greg "Nigel" Benner:
The law-officer on patrol is the primary protector of the public. It his he or she that will respond first to the call for help or assistance, and many times alone, and facing impossible odds.
We regret that Nigel would be the next law-officer to be murdered by a thief and a killer.
We pray for Nigel's family, co-workers, friends, and all who care about him. May they be ready to reach-out to his family at this time.
We are proud to render Officer Gregg "Nigel" Benner, a very courageous soldier-of-the-law, a final salute.

Thank you officer Benner. My thoughts and prayers to your family's. Your military family your brothers and sisters in blue. And to yor wife and kids and grandkids. I need to thank you for fighting for my freedom and also for protecting the community of Rio Rancho. I live in a different county in New Mexico. But the hurt goes all over this state and across the country! I am sorry that all of you and your family in blue work so hard and put your safety on the line every day just so our judicial system lets those back out on the streets. He should have never been back on the streets. Sorry for that my friend. God Bless your families. May they receive some peace soon.

Officer Benner,
I am sending my prayers for strength to your department and loved ones. I know as you look down from Above, you are sad when you see your loved ones sad. I imagine that you might say "Do not weep for me but smile for the memories we have created and the love that we have shared. Save your prayers for the people that have never known and may never know such love."
Love transcends all things; time, space and even our passing. We are only truly gone when people cease to remember and speak our name.
With prayers for the greatest strength.
With all respect.
Dear Almighty God.

I was very moved by this officer's murder. I shed a few tears when I read how he died. Indeed a very brave man and a dedicated police officer. I also felt a bitter anger that the dirtbag who had killed officer Benner was out in the street looking for more trouble instead of being behind bars. I can't comprehend how this evil animal got out so soon and was free despite a past conviction. A good cop had to pay with his life.
Rest in peace, officer.

You deserved better, brother Benner. You are a true hero and have earned your place in paradise. Please watch over us as we hold the True Blue Line and cover the watch in your absence. Rest easy, fellow sheepdog.
To Mrs. Benner and the children left behind: Your husband, your father, lived as a hero. I sincerely hope that this memory, and the knowledge that he devoted his life to the service of others can in some way assuage the anguish of your loss and carry you through to better days.
