On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Robbie was killed.

To the Bowling family, fellow officers, and all who call Robbie beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace. I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned for you.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Inspector Bowling gave to his community and the citizens of North Carolina, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on May 21, 2015.

Inspector Bowling was the epitome of a professional law enforcement officer. He was always friendly and helpful when I needed clarification of DMV regulations, and assisted me with a smile. Inspector Bowling was polite, respectful, and knowledgeable. I am truly saddened that such an honorable and memorable man has been lost. May he rest in peace. His family will be in my prayers.

Robbie was my Sergeant and taught me how to inspect trucks in the MCSAP unit. He was always happy to help with work. He was a good friend and will be missed by many of us here in Troop D district IX. I pray for his wife and family that are left behind, always remember the good times and know that Robbie touched so many lives while serving as an officer and inspector.
