We Salute Our Fallen Brother
For I’m already being poured out like a drink offering,
And the time has come for my departure; I have fought
The good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Now there is in store for me a crown of righteousness…2 Timothy 4:6-8.
The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will
Of God lives forever…1 John 2:17
Today we stand to salute our brothers’ departure from here
He’ll leave behind a family and those who hold him dear
In a career he served where all give some, yet he gave his all
He leaves this earth behind as he received his final call
The risks he faced on this final tour was one of a unique kind
His bravery surpassed his courage at last he leaves a world behind
Everyday he’ll be remembered for all the special things he did
He patrolled the streets as Gods chosen servant to him goodbye we bid
Don’t worry our brother in blue you’ll always be a part of our mind
We’ll always recall the bright face you bore one that’s so very kind
The hours you spent making a difference protecting all mankind
You stood your watch and kept the faith of one so hard to find
We Salute Our Fallen Brother for the impeccable job he done
You walked tall on duty with integrity second to no one
The beat you worked was like a battlefield in a society filled with change
Yet you never wavered in your commitment to a job that somehow was strange
The flag of our nation will not fly at half mast across the entire USA
But trust us dear brother with taped badges we honor you this way
A symbol of a fallen brother that graced our presence everyday
We’ll always salute the job you performed before you went away!

In valor there is hope. The same day Ofcs. Deen and Tate came to their respective EOWs, We, at the Oak Forest (IL) PD, were commemorating the loss of one of our own, Ofc. Jim Morrissy (star #172), who's EOW was 03/17/2014, at a county-wide ceremony. Sisters and brothers in Hattiesburg and throughout the great state of Mississippi, you will soon unfortunately, yet blessedly appreciate this truly remarkable family you are a part of. In the days to come, please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell.
Rest in peace, brother. I promise I won't let you down.
