Reflections for Night Marshal Hezekiah H. Williams

Today I learned who you were. My Aunt Nell Williams Holton was your daughter. We laid her to rest at your feet. It was a sad day for our family. Your daughter was a wonderful lady and will be missed. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.

When I was a boy, my grandma used to tell me stories about you. You were my grandfathers brother. I have heard your story for many years. Often, I have wondered where I felt the calling to serve this way. It’s in our blood, it’s something you cant take out of a person, or put into a person. Thank you, thank you for your sacrifice, thank you for your service to your hometown, and thank you for your bravery. You sir, are my hero.
My apologies for taking so long to post this. The words for me, sometimes do not come easy.

This year I participated in the Law Enforcement United Road to Hope bicycle ride. We were all issued a bracelet engraved with the name of a fallen officer. I received your bracelet. It was an honor to represent you during police week in Washington DC. I am a member of my agency's honor guard and today we had our local law enforcement memorial service. I proudly wore your bracelet during our ceremony. Night Marshall Williams, you may be gone, but you are not forgotten. Thank you for your service and may you rest easy.

We cannot fully honor our heroes of the present without paying tribute to our heroes of the past,.Your heroism and service is honored today, the 78th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.
