Reflections for Patrolman George S. Nissen
I met George in the Cook County Sheriff's Police Academy (Class 92-1) in 1992 and last saw him a few weeks before he died. George was a tough "cop's cop" who knew his job and loved his family. Thank you for your sacrifice George. We were blessed by knowing you.

I was heartbroken to hear about Georgie! Friend of my youth……..We played high school football together at York Community High School in Elmhurst, Illinois. He was a “TUFF” nose guard and a great person. I knew that he joined the Stone Park PD many years ago and heard of his injury. Officer Nissan will be missed and remembered forever. His father and brother were on the job also. I am morning the loss of a great human being! I’ll never forget you my brother!

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Patrolman George Nissen and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever.
To the family, friends, and colleagues of Patrolman Nissen, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be.
