I miss you brother, I am honored to have you as a friend, to have worked with you, to had you as a recruit for a few days, and as a neighbor. I will never forget you. I am honored that I was able to been there with you, holding your hand, praying for you, and rushing you to the hospital. That was the worst day of my life and I have had my share of the worst days anyone could have.

We shared many shifts together, lost of slow nights talking about everything. You were there for me. I remember when we collared that pedofile rapist on Cypress that was one of Kentucky's most wanted at the time. No one knew we were there, no one even knew who he was. I remember when you were a recruit and were with me coming back from Central Hospital with that prisoner and we had to stop in the middle of rush hour traffic on Nicholasville Road, pulled him out of the car and place leg restraints on him. I remember our long talks about religion, politics, current events, and one of your favorite topics: The JFK assassination.

Brother I have to tell ya, this this time of the year, the anniversary of your accident is very difficult for me. I still weep thinking about you and that day. I know I will see you again someday. I shared these memories, our memories on this page so others may know just a tiny bit more about you.

Melissa, Jacquelyn, Bryan and Kevin Rhoads I am sorry for your loss. Your Husband and father was very dear to me.

An Officer’s Heart
By Kathy Farace

I chose to work in law enforcement;
It’s my duty and my call.
I will serve no matter what the risk
In a crisis great or small.

Protecting life and liberties
From jeopardy and from theat.
No matter what the time or cause,
I’ll respond with no regret

The thin blue line of courage is a symbol that reflects,
The depth of strength to conquer,
Fear our commitment and respect.

Duty calls, the race begins, days end is unbeknown.
Though focused on the work at hand
My heart is back at home.

As an officer I know I’m not in this alone.
You stand with me by my side and pray my safety home.

I give you this special gift a heart for us to share;
Holding precious words of love far days so hard to bear.

Every moment of every day, in my heart you’ll always be.
We’ll never be far apart……You have “A Piece of Me”

They will hold many memories that you created with them close to their hearts, they will remember your laugh, your quirks, your mistakes and your passion towards keeping your community safe and will keep your memories alive. May your blood family share new embarassing stories of your childhood and we laugh and cry with them, hold and embrace your family. We shall never forget you and your family, blood and blue.
