Thanks for the tributes to the grandfather I was never able to know. He died in the line of duty before I was born. Thank you for honoring him.

Officer Massengill,
On today, the 60th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of the state of Tennessee. There is no tougher job in Law Enforcement than that of a Corrections Officer. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

We cannot fully honor our heroes of the present without honoring our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 48th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. We shall never forget any of our heroes.
Rest In Peace.
