I was a police officer for 30 years in New Jersey and never heard about this event. Although my grandfather was named Samuel Kriney, he was certainly not the same man that was killed in the line of duty. Officer Samuel Kriney might have been the son of one of his brothers, hence a second cousin. I certainly appreciate all the work by Det. Giese and others to include Officer Kriney and add his name to the Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington. RIP Cousin Sam.

This year I have the honor of riding in the Law Enforcement United Bike Tour honoring the sacrifice given by Officer Kriney and his family. I am truly sorry that it took this long for your name to get added to the Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington DC. All of the hard work to get your name added proves that you will not be forgotten. Rest in peace Officer Kriney.

We cannot fully honor our heroes of the present without honoring our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 84th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. We shall never forget any of our heroes.

Rest In Peace.
